You can bring more summer sparkle inside your homes by injecting several hot accessories for 2013. Don’t mind the unpredictable weather outside, keep your mood sunny with these summer picks. From bright sunglasses to sporty bags and creative shoes, designers had the holiday season covered in their spring and summer catwalk shows. So sit back and sip a cool lemonade whilst we take you through this summer’s best accessories.

Art deco jewels

Although many jewellery trends have emerged this year, one which is sure to add some elegance to any outfit is the art deco craze currently hitting our streets thanks to the smash hit, The Great Gatsby. Many have welcomed this trend which is synonymous with class and sophistication. Look for pieces with geometric shapes in decadent diamond and silver. We love these freshwater pearl drop earrings by Ernest Jones for £160.

Mod checkerboard

Designers channelled some 60’s mod fashion through their accessories to bring an edge to summer outfits. Many, including Louis Vuitton and Marni, revealed checkerboard leather bags in contrasting colours to inject the 60’s vibe, whilst Sportmax and Sergio Rossi added the same woven pattern to footwear.

Serpent style

Many luxury brands produced products with serpent embellishments to coincide with the Chinese New Year – the year of the water snake. High end accessories – from Bulgari bracelets to Omega watches – were influenced by the reptilian look. The high street shortly followed with its own take on the trend. This Wildfire Couture Bracelet from Asos can be yours for £65 whilst this Awear clutch is a steal at £11.

Pastel bags

Many bright colour-block bags were revealed on the spring and summer catwalks. However, pastel colours also accompanied many looks to add a fresh, sunny touch to designer outfits. Designers including Blumarine and Antonio Marras teamed white and lightly coloured garments with bags in pastel pink, purple, green and yellow shades. We love Missoni’s pastel clutch bag which incorporates a modern feel with sharp white, structured lines. Work this pastel trend alongside art deco jewellery pieces as part of an elegant evening look.

Chunky

Many designers from Gucci to Versace showcased show-stopping bright statement jewellery pieces as part of the summer bohemian trend. Necklaces and bracelets were all amped up to larger sizes in an array of materials including raw stones and wood as well as metals for contrast. Team oversized jewellery pieces with plenty of layered clothing in bright patterns as seen at Altuzarra and Oscar de le Renta.

Stylish sunnies

Treat your eyes to one of this season’s most sought after accessories – a pair of statement sunglasses. This year, designers pulled out all the creative stops to make their sunglasses brighter, bigger and more eye-catching than ever before. Many pink and blue sunglasses hit the catwalks to coincide with a big summer beauty trend – pink and blue eye shadows. It is always best to choose a pair of glasses which suit your face shape. If you have a heart-shaped face, most sunglasses will suit you whilst oversized rounded glasses will soften a square jaw. Angular frames will make a round face look longer whilst squared glasses suit oval face shapes.
